Overview of Welsh Hills School
Our Mission
The Welsh Hills School strives to provide a dynamic educational program that combines the best of a challenging curriculum and a nurturing environment. In partnering with families and focusing on the whole person, our program creates respectful global citizens and confident, life-long learners.
A dedicated curriculum for students ages 18 months through eighth grade is offered at Welsh Hills. Teaching methods are rooted in the Montessori tradition and focus on the whole child through intellectual, social, moral, physical, and emotional development. We create life-long learners by educating the child through the acquisition of a series of individual skills, which are then practiced together to obtain a complete mastery of concepts. These skills focus on work as individual students, respect for the classroom environment and interaction with each other and the school community. In all grades, the learning process is valued and carefully orchestrated to insure that students are able to embrace the challenges of our ever-changing world.
Students’ curiosity is encouraged, as they explore and discover their world in a safe and nurturing environment. In the upper grades, off-site explorations are often taken to enhance and extend the classroom learning experience. Throughout the school, a sense of social responsibility is fostered through service learning and an awareness of the student’s place in the world beyond the walls of the school.
In all grades, the learning process is valued and carefully orchestrated to insure that students are equipped to embrace the challenges of our ever-changing world. Students graduate with strong leadership potential and a sense of responsibility to themselves to continue learning throughout their lives and to others to support an ethical community of caring.
